Last week in room 9 we made a jam board. We had to use the statement from our hamburger planner. Then we made our jam board with our statement. After we got the reasons we use from the hamburger planner and then put the examples along with new examples. Finally at the end we put a conclusion at the end.

This week room 9 made a persuasion map on a site called Persuasion Map. A persuasion map has labels for what you are arguing about like reasons, introduction, facts or examples and conclusion. We had to choose a statement from a slide show and write our opinion on the persuasion map. My statement was students should have a uniform.
So now I will be sharing my map!

This term we have been learning to write narrative stories. The purpose of narrative writing is to catch the readers attention.
First we had to write our story on a narrative writing planner labeled with different parts of a story like characters, setting, or problem.
Then we made a google doc and put our story together from what was on the planner.
We had to include similes, full stops, settings, descriptive words, 5 senses, and problem or personification.
One of my favourite sentences is I delightfully said "hello!" whilst nervously clenching my shoulders into my chest.
One thing I could improve on is finding another word for delightful.

Kia ora readers, in lockdown student´s got given fun, cool, activities and this week the people who didn´t do them got to do the activities. Today I did an activity called creative writing ideas. we had to use our imagination and write something about a picture on each slide.

In the holidays I had a play date with my best friend Krystallynna. Last Saturday we went mini golfing and shopping. When we went shopping we bought fidgets, clothes and ice cream. Next we meet up with Krystallynnas family at the Caddy shack and did some mini golfing together. At the caddy shack there were different golf areas labeled with a number so me and Krystallynna went to random golf pakours not knowing that we had to start from 1 to 18 with the golf areas. The last golf area gave you an lollie pop when you had finished all the golf pakours and would take your ball away so when me and Krystallynna lost our balls getting a lollie pop we were so confused. Then me and Krystallynna went to the front desk and asked "how come our ball won't come out of that golf pakour lollie machine. They had nicely said that "we had to do it in order from 1 to 18" and then gave us another ball for our misunderstanding. Me and Krystallynna carried on playing mini golf in order. Finally we went out to Mcdonalds and got some food. Soon after an 1hr we left to Krystallynnas house and hung out for about 2hrs. I ended up getting exciting news about me going with Krystallynnas family to the Garden city

Kia ora, Kumusta, Talofa readers, this week we have been learning about narrative writing.
From yesterday we choose a fairytale story and broke it up into pieces.

I woke up laying on the crunchy, musty forest floor. I could see multi-coloured flowers scattered across the forest floor. My brown, slim, shiny, hair was covered in leaves and had twigs tangled in it. I managed to take out some of it and could walk a couple of miles from where I woke up.
Tree branches with green moss and poison ivy were covering my way. I could see squashed flowers on the floor. Leaves and tree branches were falling down off trees when I saw a humongous, wood tree house. “I had never seen anything like it,” I said to myself.
I made my way across the forest floor in my pale, bare feet to the tree house ladder.
When I climbed to the top, a splinter slid into my finger. I started looking around slowly and the tree house kept creaking. I could feel the splinter going deeper into my finger. Camouflaged insects were jumping out of tight spaces and spider webs were made in corners. The tree house reminded me of an ancient old tree house in egypt. Damp, muddy dirt was scattered across the ground and then I fell over into a pile of leaves being so clumsy, scratching the side of my face.
That's when I decided to be creative. I got some leaves and flax strips with tree sap on it then wrapped it around my scratch as if my face was cut open. There wasn't much sun, just little areas with some sun shining through with bitter air floating around smoothly.
I could hear rustling in the bushes and leaves slapping each other every time the howling breeze flew roughly across the forest. I saw blueberries and a mango tree that was about 6 feet tall in the emergent layer. I decided to be thoughtful and clever. “The mangos would be too high to reach but would fill me up and the blueberries would fill me up half as much as the mango's did” I said to myself thinking carefully.
I decided to go for the blueberries. I folded flax strips together to make a basket for the blueberries and so the blueberries won’t fall out of my hands. It started to rain heavily. Thick tree trunks were getting wet, dripping on the berries. I climbed back up slowly step by step. When I got to the top I knew that from then on things were gonna be okay and that I could give this tree house a good makeover.

In room 9 we been learning about Matariki legends and other things about Matariki. Today we made a Matariki word collage with words about Matariki and the names of the seven stars.

In room 9 we started writing a setting description. We watched a video of an old busted down village and then wrote a word bank with lots of words down. The words on the word bank would have to describe the village and include the five senses like see, hear, feel, taste, and smell.

Hi everyone again,
Here is a piece of writing that I wrote this week. We were learning about recounts and we watched a video of thieves at a gas station robbing the store. We had to write this on our term 1 writing document,I spent atleast 2,3 days on this writing.

Late in the night I was in a parking lot while two fellow young men were in a car in front of a gas station.
The first man was tall, had long pink lips that had looked like it had been stretched out 10x more then normal lips. The second man was short,had lips that were 5 meters wide and had a neon blue jumper.
While watching them with suspiciousness in my eyes I saw them getting ready to walk into the shop with a big black bag. The second guy went speeding into the shop bumping into the window as if he didn't see it while the first guy walked tall and straight. I watch them as they get inside when all of the sudden the first guy grabbed his gun pointing it at the cashier and the second guy put the black bag on the desk,the cashier just stared at the two thieves until he got a chill of Sacredness up his spine the second thief ran side jumped on the shelf to the counter to end with a sore fall on the ground.
