 Hello everyone! in room 11 we have been doing a word face portrait on a app called word art.

Interview About fun run

 Today me and my friend Jailah did a interview about the fun run that we did on November 18th.

Athletics

 On Tuesday the year 4,5, and 6s did Athletics. The Activities were shotput, long jump, high jump and discus and also sprints.

 First of all in the morning at 9:00am we went outside, made a line and walked to the court. 

When we got to the court the year 5 girls made their own line, same as the other students! The year 5 girls went to long jump first.

I watched the other girls jump until it was my turn. When it was my turn I used all my speed and ran as fast as I could ,I jumped on 1 foot and landed on 2 feet.

Mr Taylor my teacher said to me"great job" I had 3 tries then we moved onto the next activity.

Our next activity  was shot put the teacher was Mr Martin. When it was my turn I held the heavy ball up to my neck and listen to Mr Martins words.

I did it correct! and heard a great job from Mr Martin I felt very proud of myself.

The thrid activity was distance running at Kyle park we had to do 3 laps.

Canterbury Swim School

hello everyone today I will be telling you about swimming at Canterbury swim school. At school we were starting swimming lessons we were doing it for 2 weeks. We went on a bus to get to the swimming pools. When we got there we sat on the benches and our instructor called our names and we got into groups. Our instructors name was Martin he was very nice! We went in the deep pool. We  learnt free style,bubble breathing, and kicking. I felt happy and excited about swimming. My goal was to get better at swimming and be better than before. Before I go I want to show you guys a video of me swimming with my friend!

Nutrition information

                                     

In room 11 in writing we have been doing something about labels on food like the sugar content and fat content. We wanted to know if it as healthy or not or like are you allowed that much sugar or salt.

Student Summit

 In room 11 my teacher Miss Mclachlan made this thing called student summit. A student summit is kinda like a workshop. Some people in our school made their own workshops with buddies. We had to go on google meet calls with other people from different schools. People from other schools and my school would use a app and tell you how it works. People from different schools made a presenttaion about the app. The school that the the student summit was HPS,YMS,WPS,SHS,HHS,GS, and STB 

One of my favourite apps was mihi maker. Mihi maker is a app where you write about your self but in a animation. Its basicly a moari language thing lots of things on the app are writen in moari you could also write in english. The thing I like about mihi maker is that it includes my culture and that its a animation.

One of the other workshops I did was Scratch Jr. Scratch Jr is another app about animations. Scratch Jr is a app were you connect different puzzels shapes together to make a animation. You can change backgrounds on Scratch Jr you can also get different characters. The thing I like about Scratch Jr is that its really easy to use and that its a fun app. 

One of the other workshops was about slide shows on google drive. It was called supped up slides with pear deck. Supped up slides was something to do with a slide show. Supped up slides was a really complicated one for me. Supped up slides included some drawing and something to do with the slide show. The thing I liked about it was that it included something I liked and that it was really colorful.

The last workshop was prezi. Prezi is a app where its kinda like google drive. You had to login with your school email. When they login in I saw pretty poster stuff. The thing I like about it is that you can make pretty posters and that it was easy to use. It was kinda hard for me I couldn't really understand but this is what I know.

 Malo lelei everyone today we have been  learning how to take Perspective photo.we watched a video on how to take a photo. After that we choosed our buddies and got a ipad. We went outside and took some pictures.

Cookisland Tradition!!

Kia orana everyone! Today I will be showing you what we do in the cookislands and what we eat. In the Cookislands we eat coconuts and lots of fruit. We eat fish muscles and pig and other pacifican foods like supapasoi. We dance and wear lava lava's with a flower hat sometimes we wear a flower on our ear. When we dance we move our hands very slowly and move them around like a worm. We mostly walk in bare feet or wear sandals.

Snapshot Writing!

In room 11 we made pictures and made them look really cool. We had to show how we were feeling at that time with face expressions. We took photos on the ipad's and uploaded it to the Chromebook then we posted it on our blogs and I would like to show you mine!

I was at Jurassic park and I saw a dinosaur escape from his cage I ran as fast as I could. I stopped running when I was at the Auckland sky tower. I climbed to the very top and was struggling to balance I saw the dinosaur under me I was scared to death. My white flip flops rocket lanched off my foot flying in the air like a bird. I fell off the tower and waited for the end of me. The dinosaurs mouth was open ready to chomp me up like a cookie. Looking down at the dinosaurs mouth I could see sharp teeth a massive tonge. I said goodbye to my flip flops and waited for the first bite on my hand it was the end of me.

Genia.ly

 

Kia ora everyone in reading we have been using this app called Genia.ly. We got given a story and had to write what they did what they look like. We needed a reason why they did that aswell. I really wanted to share mine with you guys so here it is

The Present

 RA TA TA TA the lights of the tv glooming from darkness to light PEW the boy was so focused and engrossed about his game most of his attention went to the tv  .The boy had rosy red cheeks and was wearing a dark blue hoodie. His brown eyes stared at the tv.His beautiful black haired mother came in she looked tired because the  weight of the box. She was wearing a white shirt and some dark blue pants with a tiny box.The box reminded me of a hot chocolate that I drank for breakfast. The boy was really confused. His mother opened the blinds and said “open the present I got  for you”a present for me”answered the boy. He opened the box and there was a blonde tiny dog. The boy was excited at first but then his mouth dropped and his eyebrows pointed down and put a angry face. He saw 3 legs instead of 4. He threw the dog on the white carpet that looked like sheep's wool.The boy scoffed while the dog started running around the living room. The dog found a red and kicked it to the boy. The boy looked at the ball and threw it.

The dog ran over to get its ball when it rolled over inside the box that he was packed in. Just like that the dog got stuck inside the box.

The dog was moving around lots in the box eventually the dog got out the box.The boy was smiling but he turned his head away from happy to a frown. The dog ran over to get its toy holding  it in his mouth. He dropped the ball next to the boy's foot the boy was ready to make a bond with the dog. The boy got up on 1 leg and picked up some long grey crutches. While the dog was sitting there confused at how he was different. It had seemed that the dog and the boy were completely even. They finally made a bond and became best bros for Internity.

Opening sentence for my story

Hello Readers, 

We are learning to write an interesting first sentence to hook our reader.

My first sentence was" One day there was a boy chilling on his Xbox."

This is my improved sentence "RA TA TA TA the lights of the tv glooming

from darkness to light PEW BOOM the boy was focused and engrossed about his game

most of his attention went to the tv". 

I think my updated sentence is way better than the last what do you think ??

Does my opening sentence hook my attention?

My weekend

In the weekend I went to my Bestfriends house for the night. We at some chicken nuggets french fries with tomato sauce. We did a couple of TikToks and tried out life hacks we went to sleep at 2am which was very late. In the morning we decided to have cocopops for breakfast and go to the haunted house down the road we got ready packed our stuff and walked to the house I started to get the chills same as my sister. while we were walking a car was driving through a walking tunnel it was speeding we were scream running up and down we calmed down and enjoyed our walk we got to the haunted house. We kept hearing voices and foot steps we started to record with our phones we were scared to DEATH but then we went home and ate lunch we went to the mall and we chilled out and forgot about the house. We went to mcdonalds and ate some yummy burgers. We remebered the house and remeberd that there was a truck place next to it so the vouces and foot steps were all at the truck shop.

My toy design

In room 11 we are making a toy or anything we want but it has to be a a thing that hasn't been invented. We had to be with a buddy me and my decided to make a robot money box. The class got out a box with decorations and cardboard me and my buddy started the front bit of our robot. Me and my buddy aren't quite done but here is what were doing. Kakapo

Kia ora everyone in room ll in reading the polar bears have been learning about Kakapos. But before we start here is a link to my reading page Reading page link. My Giraffe poem

In room 11 on Thursdays and Fridays we have Miss Nichols. For writing we did Colour poems and Acrostic poems about animals & insects. I choose a animal my animal was a giraffe heres my giraffe poem. Acrostic poems are poems in which the first letter of each line spells out a word or message about the topic. I choose a animal my animal was a giraffe heres my giraffe poem.

Marleigh returning to school

             Kia ora readers, its Marleigh today I am going to share my first draft of some writing. In room 11 we have been doing some art. We got given a blank paper that had a backpack on it we had to decorate it to make it amazing. Then after we decorated it we hang it up on the wall I had fun making about me backpacks.

Kia ora everyone my name is Marleigh and I’m a student at hornby primary school. I’m in a class with 29 students with some year 4/5. My favourite color is pink. I like donuts and ice cream I really like playing tag with my friends. My favourite school subject is art my most likely fruit is plums. My favourite sport is basketball. My most likely animal is an puppy. I live with my siblings,step mom and my dad. I have a pet called denday he is a cat. I have 13 people that live with me.
